ABOUT ME
WHY THIS NONSENSE?
Hello – or as we say in Northern Germany: "Moin". Somehow you've stumbled upon my weird little website, so I guess this is the part where I explain what it's all about. Fair warning: this might turn into a small Tolkien novel. Sorry for that.
First things first, let me introduce myself: My online name is aBoyCalleDJ (pronounced: ə bɔɪ kɔːld dʒeɪ) and I am – who would have guessed – a gamer. To me, video games are the greatest form of entertainment of all time. They're far more
than just a hobby. It may sound dramatic, but I'll say it anyway: they're pure passion. With the exception of my amazing girlfriend, nothing in this world helps me unwind quite like immersive escapism through this medium. Some people go to yoga,
go fishing, or even listen to Bob Ross to relax (okay, I might do that too)… in my case, it's video games.
Above all, I love narrative experiences. A game usually needs at least some kind of story to truly hook me. Role-playing games (RPGs) will probably always be my favorite genre, but my taste ranges from action-adventures to survival horror and even the
occasional walking simulator. And when I'm not playing solo (hard to believe, but yes, I do have friends), I enjoy co-op experiences with my girlfriend or my gaming buddies. One thing usually remains consistent, though: the games are mostly story-driven.
Wow, I'm starting to see a pattern myself.
But why does this website even need to exist? Honestly: it doesn't. Back in 2020, I started keeping track of the games I finished each year. Over time, it became a bit of a tradition. Every gamer has that one ultimate final boss: his Pile of Shame.
Maintaining this completion list motivated me to work through mine. With a quick glance, I could always see what I had accomplished so far. Sure, other people my age are building houses or starting families… but I'm still proud of finishing my "projects" and
sticking with them – especially nowadays when games are often only played halfway instead of being completed. It has definitely turned into a slightly strange motivational tool for me (yeah, everyone has their own fetish, I guess).
And finally, reason number two: I wanted to get back into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (okay, admittedly, in the end an AI did about 75% of the work for me).
Still, I liked the idea of creating a website where I could showcase my completed games while brushing up on my coding skills. What you're seeing now is the final result (yes, it seems I actually pulled it off).
Anyway, that's probably enough about me and this website. In short, it's mostly for myself. But I'm glad you somehow found your way here and even took the time to read this far. "Achievement unlocked: lifetime successfully wasted" I'd say. But who knows – maybe
the site will expand someday: reviews, podcasts (I promise I have a very seductive voice), or something else entirely. Honestly, I'm not sure yet. And there's probably no one out there who's truly interested in my opinion anyway.
In any case, I hope this explains why this website exists.
